Just like last season, the 2014 Swix Ski Classics series consists of six of the most prestigious classic ski races in five European countries.

The fourth season of the long distance ski championship Swix Ski Classics opens on January 12, 2014, with Jizerská Padesatká in Czech Republic. The race series continues with the Marcialonga in Italy on January 26, followed by König Ludwig Lauf in Germany on February 2. After the first three races, there will be four-week recovery and training period. Then the second half of the series continues with Vasaloppet in Sweden on March 2, Birkebeinerrennet in Norway on March 15 and concludes with the Swix Ski Classics Final Årefjällsloppet in Sweden on March 29. All races are open for professional team skiers as well as amateur skiers.

“We believe the 2013 Swix Ski Classics was successful and have decided to keep the same races the coming season of 2014. Sticking to six races in the tour, we can guarantee the TV audience that the best skiers will be starting in all races,” says David Nilsson, CEO Swix Ski Classics. Nilsson doesn’t rule out future changes to the schedule.

“However, in the future, the tour is considering to add a pre-Christmas race as well as an additional event in February,”.

For the 2013 season, Swix Ski Classics continued to expand the live TV broadcast of all races to more than 20 TV-channels worldwide, broadcasting in 59 countries. The tour had a combined total of 52,000 skiers on the main race race day of the events, and more than 200,000 spectators along the tracks.
