Tomorrow, the gun goes off for the 2016 IBU biathlon World Cup with mixed relays in Östersund (SWE).
After the mixed relays on Sunday, the first World Cup continues with individual competitions December 2 through 6.
Ole Einar Bjørndalen (NOR) has been fighting illness for much of the dryland season, but at the national season opener at Sjusjøen (NOR) last weekend, he posted an 11 place in the mass start and was content with his fitness considering the less than optimal lead-up.
“It wasn’t half bad, but I didn’t shoot well. It will get better as the season gets underway,” Bjørndalen said to NRK after the race last Sunday.
