The 38-year-old cross-country skier is determined to continue his marathon racing career, and has extended his contract with the Norwegian marathon team United Bakeries, which is lead by Brink’s Madshus teammate Thomas Alsgaard.

“I am taking one year at a time, but I have every intention of sticking with it for at least two more years,” Brink says to the Swedish news agency TT.

Brink not only became the oldest Vasaloppet champion this season, he also set a new course record and he was the first to do a true hattrick and win three consecutive years since skiers were racing on wooden skis.

But Brink has more goals for the upcoming season: Anders Aukland (NOR) won the overall 2012 Ski Classics series, which consists of seven classic marathons. Next season, Brink is looking to dethrone the Norwegian and win the Ski Classics cup.
