Madshus Marathon Team racer Jörgen Brink (SWE) served up a strong performance at the FIS season opener events in Bruksvallarna last weekend.
“I’m very pleased with the races. I usually don’t race very well in the beginning of the season, so this is good for me,” Brink said after his races in Bruksvallarna.
The three-time Vasaloppet Champion says he has trained less this year than usual, but nevertheless, Brink opened the season stronger than ever in Bruksvallarna. With a 10th place in the 10K classic and a 16th place in the 15K skate, the long-distance specialist earned himself a spot as a standby for the World Cup opener in Gällivare November 24-25.
But while he will be at the World Cup in Gällvare, Brink’s overall goal for the season is Vasaloppet.
“Vasaloppet is my number one focus for the season, and I plan the training around Vasaloppet,” Brink says.
“But I also want to do well in the overall Swix Ski Classics series,” he adds.
