Madshus racers opened the 3-day summer ski festival Toppidrettsveka in Trøndelag (NOR) with snagging three of the top for places in the women’s 20km classic race on Thursday: Helene Marie Fossesholm in first, Mathilde Myhrvold in third and Hedda Østberg Amundsen in fourth. Additionally, Hedda’s twin brother Harald Østberg Amundsen was fourth in the men’s opening race.

In the sprint on Friday, Myhrvold secured her second podium in two days, winning the B-final and taking third place in the race. Myhrvold was just ahead of Østberg Amundsen, who posted her second fourth place.

Finally, on Saturday, Fossesholm capped the summer ski festival with another first place, winning the 10-kilometer skate race by a minute and a half to fellow Madshus racer Myhrvold in second place. The Østberg Amundsen twins posted two strong fifth place results: Hedda in the women’s 10-kilometer and Harald in men’s 15-kilometer.

Each of the races were scored as separate events, but the 3-day race series was also run as a mini tour. With two crushing victories in three days, turbo junior Fossesholm won the overall Toppidrettsveka race week by a land slide. Myhrvold was third overall, just 10 seconds from second place. The Østberg Amundsen twins were both fourth overall.

“I felt really good this weekend. It was super fun to race again, and I’m excited about the ski season,” Fossesholm said after the final race on Saturday.

Toppidrettsveka was the last of the traditional summer ski festivals of the season, and also marks the transition from summer training to more specific and higher-intensity training toward the season openers in November.
