Madshus athletes cap their season with strong performances at the Norwegian National Championships.
First off, Ingvild Flugstad Østberg was on the podium twice in three days, opening the second part of the national championships in Alta with a bronze medal in the team sprint on Thursday along with fellow Madshus racer Tuva Bakkemo.
The next day, Østberg stepped it up one notch and took home a silver medal in the 5-kilometer classic event. Østberg, who helped Norway to gold in the relay at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang in February, was also second in the 2018 Distance World Cup and third in the 2018 FIS Overall World Cup.
Among the men, Olympians Hans Christer Holund and Pål Golberg each earned a silver medal: Holund was second in the men’s 50-kilometer on Saturday, and Goldberg in the men’s 10-kilometer classic on Friday. Holund was also third in the FIS 2018 Distance World Cup and earned the bronzed medal in the skiathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang.
Additionally, several Madshus racers were among the top ten in all the national championship events this weekend, including Simen Andreas Sveen, Mattis Stenshagen, Johan Hoel, Mathias Rundgreen, Thea Krokan Murud, Anna Svendsen and Marte Mæhlum Johansen.
Also, 16-year old Helene Marie Fosseholm posted a strong 11th place in the 5-kilometer classic event on Friday, her first season as a junior.

At the biathlon national championships, Sigrid Bilstad Neraasen earned two medals: On Thursday, she helped her team to third place in the women’s relay, and on Friday, she followed up earning the bronze medal in the sprint on Friday. The championships were held at her home turf in Vingrom near Lillehammer.
At the Nordic Combined national championships, Jarl Magnus Riiber won the gold medal, and Leif Torbjørn Næsvold was third, taking home the bronze medal. The Nordic Combined national championships took place in Trysil.
