Kristin Stoermer Steira (NOR) dominated the women’s 15km duathlon in Sotchi Saturday. Steira won by 20 seconds, and cruised into her first individual World Cup victory in four years.
“It was really fun to be first across the finish line today. I was a little concerned that I might have started the sprint a little early, but I felt good today, so then there was really nothing to wait around for,” Steira said to Norwegian TV station NRK after her race.
“She delivered a race performance that would be hard to match even for Marit Bjoergen or Justyna Kowalczyk,” says Norwegian TV commentator Torgeir Bjoern of the strong finish at the pre-Olympic races in Sotchi.
