Benedikt Doll (GER) opened his weekend with third place in the biathlon World Cup sprint on Friday, and followed up with another third place in the relay on Sunday.

This week’s IBU World Cup events took place in Hochfilzen (AUT), where Doll earned his first individual World Championship gold medal at the senior level. That was in 2017, and also in the 10km sprint. Since the World Cup opener in Pokljuka (SLO) last weekend, Doll had honed his precision at the range.

“I had a really good feeling in training here in Hochfilzen, and I had the results from the (2017 IBU) World Championships in my head. I managed to shoot really confidently, and that was the best thing today,” Doll said after his sprint race on Friday.

Additionally, Torstein Stenersen helped Sweden to first place in the men’s 4×7.5km relay on Sunday after delivering a solid third leg for his team. Anaïs Bescond (FRA) anchored France to third place in the women’s 4x6km relay.
