Madshus racer Joergen Brink (SWE) cruised into victory in the FIS sanctioned roller ski race downtown Stockholm on Saturday.
“We set the pace from the gun went off. I made a break-away after 2 kilometers, and my teammate Marcus Ottosson (SWE) stuck with me,” Brink said to Laengd.se after the the race.
From there, the two teammates from Lager 157 worked together for the rest of the race.
“Nobody else took turns with us,” Brink says.
“We surged time after time, but the third-place racer Axel stayed on our tails every time,” explains the seasoned Madshus marathon team racer .
On the final hill, Brink determined the outcome, but admits that staying with his teammate Ottosson on the flats came with a steep price.
“I really had to work hard to stay with Otto on the flats. My body feels pretty mushy now. It was a hard race, but a really fun event,” Brink says.
Brink won by 14 seconds to his teammate Marcus Ottosson, while Axel Bergsten (SWE) was third.
