German biathlete Miriam Gössner (25) has chosen to race on Madshus equipment starting with the 2015-16 season.
“We are excited to welcome Miriam Gössner to the Madshus family,” says Per Wiik, Global Marketing Manager at Madshus.
“Gössner has made big improvements the last season, and we are proud to support her on her journey to the very top of the World Cup,” Wiik says.
Gössner, who was raised in the legendary Bavarian winter sports town Garmisch-Partenkirchen, started her career in Alpine skiing. She transitioned to biathlon at age 14, after suffering a devastating crash on the Alpine hill.
She first entered the biathlon World Cup in December 2009, but Gössner also excels in cross-country skiing. She skied in the 2009 FIS World Championships in Liberec (CZE) where she helped Germany to the silver medal in the women’s 4x5km relay. She also helped Germany to the silver medal in the 4x5km relay at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. In 2013, she was 4th in the 10K the FIS World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
However, Gössner’s heart is in biathlon, and she returned to biathlon full-time after the 2010 Olympics. She helped Germany to gold at her first IBU World Championships in 2011, and did it again at the 2012 IBU World Championships. In December 2012, she earned her first biathlon World Cup victory, when she won the pursuit in Pokljuka (SLO).
