Madshus biathletes Emil Hegle Svendsen and Synnøve Solemdal, both of the Norwegian national team, are not only mentors to the young athletes on Team Madshus Norway.
This week the two outstanding athletes were named ambassadors to the Norwegian elite development project Young Stars, designed to help young talented biathletes age 15 to 16 launch their competitive careers.
“The Young Star project allows future stars to develop their talents and reach their goals both on the biathlon arena and in life, Svendsen says after being named to the ambassador team. “Thats a program I fully support.”
The Statkraft Young Star Team consists of 30 young biathletes age 15-16. These skiers attend regular training camps with the ambassadors throughout the season. As a highlight of the season, the young racers are invited to compete at the Holmenkollen arena during the annual Holmenkollen World Cup weekend in March. The Statkraft Young Star Team is divided into seven regional teams that cooperate with the national biathlon association and local/regional clubs and teams that focus specifically on elite development in junior racers.
