Madshus racer Axel Teichmann (GER), the FIS Cross-Country World Cup winner from 2004/5 season, has been healthy all summer, is in good shape and on track with his training program, and has the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in sight.

Teichmann could enjoy one week of active rest after the DSV central performance tests in Oberhof before entering in the final phase of the preparation for the forthcoming season. The skier from Bad Lobenstein, Germany, is confident and optimistic about the upcoming season, and notes that his shoulder injury from June has completely healed.

“Last six weeks I could work without problems, I’m in a good shape,” Teichmann says.

The FIS Tour de Ski kicks off on December 29th and concludes in Val di Fiemme after nine days. This will be an important milestone towards the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in February.

“The World Championships in Val di Fiemme, where I won my first title in 2003, is the clear season highlight,” says the father of two.

The German national team roster includes three veteran skiers who all have one big goal for the 2013 World Championships: Jens Filbrich, Tobias Angerer and Axel Teichmann want to win a World Championship relay title. The World Ski Championships is their first opportunity and the 2014 Winter Olympic Games is their last chance.

“Of course we have it in mind,” Teichmann says.

Teichmann also reveals which competitions he will race at the World Ski Championships.

“It will depend on the winter. I have to wait and see until the first competitions,” Teichmann says to FIS.

There is still over a month until the World Cup season opener in Gällivare (SWE). Before then, the German Cross-Country Ski Team will train in Ramsau and Val Senales in October, and then in Muonio (FIN) for three weeks in November.
