The Redline Zero is a world-class, specialty classic ski for racing in tricky waxing conditions around zero degrees Celsius. The ski features our Carbon Power Wrap core construction and the new Power Edge which is a durable, offset edge designed for maximum stability and edge control. The base material insert placed in the grip zone of the ski is made from a blend of rubber and polyethylene and when roughened with sandpaper can provide better grip than hard grip waxes and better glide than klister waxes. When roughened with sandpaper, this inserted base material creates lots of tiny hairs, which is why zero skis are often referred to as “hairies”. In ski conditions around the freezing point, especially with high humidity and glazed tracks, it is often difficult for hard grip waxes to provide enough grip, and yet klister waxes tend to ice up. Both of these situations result in skis that are slow and inconsistent. Zero skis are the perfect remedy to these tricky conditions as they provide better grip than hard grip waxes and better glide than klister waxes. The Redline Zero ski performs at its best in high humidity and glazed tracks around zero degrees Celsius, but the use range can be expanded by using finer or coarser sandpaper to tailor the grip zone to match the conditions. As with all our other Redline classic skis, the camber of the Redline Zero is developed to react dynamically to the force you generate. The wax pocket is designed to remain open during double poling, for near-frictionless glide, and to close quickly as weight is shifted to the ball of the foot during the kicking phase. This construction ensures snappy access to grip right when you need it in the stride, maximizing the total forward propulsion that can be generated. Not every race will be around the freezing point, but when the conditions are right, nothing can compete with zero skis for performance.
